1394 Interface Schedule for this course

3 Day Course

This course includes both the 1394a and 1394b protocols and the SBP-2 and 61883/AVC mappings. Power management has been updated to the latest specifications. During this expanded seminar, expect to investigate the bits and bytes of the transactions, CSR's and Configuration ROM as well as the DC levels of DS encoding, the scrambler and 8b/10b encoding. PHY, Link and PHY - Link interface is also covered in-depth. This course is especially applicable for those whose job or interests are in consumer electronics or computer storage products interacting in the user friendly manner of 1394; also called FirewireTM or I.LinkTM.

The course assumes no specific knowledge of drives or storage interfaces, but a general familiarity will be helpful.

Demonstrations have been added to the KnowledgeTek IEEE-1394 course that demonstrate bus configuration, device initialization and asynchronous and isochronous operations. The demo's use the Data Transit Bus Doctor protocol analyzer to capture each demonstration and the to display it on the projection screen so all students can see the actual "real-world" operations. A discussion of the capture, highlighting the important concepts, ensures that learning is enhanced.
