Advanced Perpendicular Recording Technology Schedule for this course

3 Day Course

Most companies pushing Areal Density beyond 100 Gbpi are already designing with Perpendicular recording. This class is ideal for those who want to understand the advantages, pitfalls, and implementation of Perpendicular Recording. This class will take you through the most recent major recording advances, including TGMR heads. We will briefly go through reader technology evolution then move into Perpendicular Recording. This will lead us to Perpendicular Write Heads, Superparamagnetism and why Perpendicular Recording is the way out of this issue, which is currently limiting Longitudinal Recording performance. We will delve into details of Perpendicular media and point out the pitfalls of Perpendicular Recording. Head and Media Development and Manufacturing issues will be discussed in detail and we will finish with a host of issues that drives have with Perpendicular heads and media. A highlight of this class is the practical aspects of integrating Perpendicular components in drives.
