Read Channel, Data-Path Controller, Buffer RAM, Micro-Controller, DSP, SPM/VCM Driver, Interface Controller, Buffer Controller. Get an overview of what these do and how they are integrated together into the ICs that make up a disk drive. Actual drive architectures and chip set implementations will be examined. Participants in the half-day class should have a good basic understanding of how a disk drive functions before enrolling. (Disk Drive Basics is excellent preparation).
