2 Day Course
This course brings clarity and understanding to the confusing tangle of technologies, standards, and formats that make up DVD and DVD Recordables. Not a simple overview, the course provides an in-depth look in the technology of both DVD discs and drives. Participants will leave with an understanding of the optics, the electronics, the mechanics, disc manufacturing, and the various formats and methods of data encoding. An overview of CD (Compact Disc) technology will also be presented, and the many similarities and significant differences to DVD technology will be discussed.
The course concludes with a look at the newer, high capacity technologies of HD-DVD and Blu-ray media as well as a look at some lesser known contenders.
