3 Day Course
SAS Plus Updated to SAS-2.1:
Our existing course, Serial Attached SCSI, which has been praised by industry experts for its content and delivery, has been updated to include the latest of SAS-2.1.0. New subjects are Zoning, Multiplexing, 6 Gbps, Training, New Counters and SMP and STP Time Limits. Existing sections of the course have also been upgraded to the new standard.
SAS 2.1 (Serial Attached SCSI) is the logical evolution of SCSI that addresses enterprise storage requirements for larger capacity, density, security, scalability and accessibility, while offering SCSI compatibility along with the reliability, performance and manageability of Parallel SCSI. This 3-day seminar provides students with the most current SAS 2.1 industry developments, directions and data necessary to be fully informed and abreast of the latest advances in this exciting technology. Class participants will examine the development of SAS 2.1 (Serial Attached SCSI) into a storage solution. Students will investigate the ability of SAS 2.1 (Serial Attached SCSI) technology to offer increased customer choice by allowing a single infrastructure to support both enterprise class SAS 2.1 (Serial Attached SCSI) drives and SATA 2.6 (Serial ATA) drives for cost-sensitive applications. Students will examine the latest revision of the SAS 2.1 (Serial Attached SCSI) Standard, and they will learn how the standard addresses the industry needs to enable customers to invest in technology that delivers a scalable feature set, backward compatibility and cost-effective industry-standard storage. This course is ideal for those seeking a detailed understanding of the new technology of SAS 2.1 (Serial Attached SCSI), its workings, and the impact it will have within the industry.
Our newest demonstration uses an analyzer, host bus adapter, expanders, one SATA and two SAS disk drives to fully explore the SAS transport and how it relates to the SCSI and ATA command sets. Emphasis will be placed on the initialization steps of Open Identify, Discovery, expander operations and on the operational steps of Open Address, transfer information and closing. SAS Protocols demonstrated will be SSP, SMP and STP. This demonstration class uses real equipment to ensure real learning.
