KnowledgeTek's new SCSI Nuts and Bolts for Tape Drives and Tape Libraries course builds on the proven success of our SCSI Nuts and Bolts course, converts it to cover tape drives and tape libraries and demonstrates major points with traces from several popular protocol analyzers. With adequate notification, we can add demonstrations with your equipment or capture traces with your equipment. This course covers the SCSI Primary Commands, tape drive commands and tape library commands. It covers the Asynchronous transport protocol up to and including U320. It also covers the ADI (Library-Drive Interface) commands and transport. The course developer and instructor, Hugh Curley, has been in the computer industry since 1967 and began teaching computers in 1975. He has been teaching SCSI and other storage interfaces for over 10 years. Most of his training, including that mentioned above and product specific courses have involved labs and demonstrations using actual equipment in the classroom. Based on our highly successful Hands-On SCSI, this demo class for Tape SCSI uses SCSI Host Bus Adapters, disk drives and an analyzer to lead the student through SCSI command execution, SCSI Phases, feature negotiation (wide/narrow, synchronous and PPR features) and feature execution. A boot sequence can be observed and analyzed. Also, a Target Tester will be used to show the sequence of control signals during individual phases. Demonstrations will be adjusted to place emphasis where it will best meet the needs of the students.
