Write Process Schedule for this course

3 Day Course

This class provides an in-depth look into how data is written and stored on magnetic media. Students will leave this class with a solid understanding of the parameters and issues important in high-density magnetic recording. The course will walk through the process and tradeoffs, step by step, of designing a write head. Many design examples and the modeling results of real designs will be presented. Students will learn the reality behind the many popular misconceptions, such as why the overwrite test doesn't really measure overwrite, and why the fifth harmonic test doesn't really measure NLTS.

The class is ideal for engineers working in head/media and read/write areas. It is also an excellent source of information for engineers from the industry seeking to understand the total picture. Students should have a basic understanding of magnetic recording before taking this class. KnowledgeTek's Disk Drive Technology class is excellent preparation.
